Hi! I'm Kaitlynn. I'm 18 years old and music is my passion. I've been singing since I was 5, but fell in love with the guitar when I was 9, after hearing my first Taylor Swift song. I begged my parents for guitar lessons for over a year until they finally gave in and I haven't been able to put it down since. From then on, music has been my outlet for relieving stress. When I was 11, I also began channeling my stress, in true Taylor fashion, by writing songs. I continued to improve in both guitar and song writing and hope to keep improving in the future. When I was 12, I had a  malformed blood vessel in my head that burst. I was hospitalized for 7 weeks and had to have brain surgery to remove the blood vessel. All of this resulted in a traumatic brain injury that left me with short-term memory loss that I still struggle with daily. I had to "re-train" my brain to do simple tasks, such as walking,  through intense therapy. Another therapy that got me through this difficult time was music therapy. I always knew that music was amazing, but I realized it's true healing powers through that tough experience. It was then that I found my calling to become a music therapist. I want to help others who have gone through similar situations be able to recover and relieve their stress through music. To become a successful music therapist, you have to know how to play many instruments, so I started taking piano lessons about 2 years ago and learned to play ukulele. I want to continue to explore all of my musical horizons and learn new things in hopes that I will be able to give someone else what music has given me.
